12/28/06 Auctions of Note

Auctions of note for December 28th, 2006:

eBay: EDTASM+ Cartridge for Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer (item 160067779022 end time Jan-03-07 18:23:08 PST)

A nice looking EDTASM+ pak with manual. If you're going to give assembler a try, this will certainly do the job. I'd recommend doing one of the disk upgrades for it (there was one in The Rainbow, can't remember which issue). From the picture, it would probably make a nice collectible piece as well.

eBay: Worlds of Flight Game for TRS-80 Color Computer (item 160067783657 end time Jan-03-07 18:28:54 PST)

Here a copy of the rare Worlds of Flight game from Tom Mix software. Comes with the manual. Last time this came up it went for over $120.00. That's one hundred and twenty dollars. :) Great stuff!

eBay: VIP Writer for TRS-80 Color Computer and TDP System 100 (item 160067786669 end time Jan-03-07 18:32:17 PST)

Fabulous looking copy of VIP Writer from Softlaw! Most of the one's I've seen before are "well loved," even when complete. Handy word processor, as well.

eBay: Disk Fix Utilities for TRS-80 Color Computer TDP 100 (item 160067790461 end time Jan-03-07 18:37:23 PST)

A great find from Computerware, this is the Disk Fix utilities for OS-9. Comes with manual and is the first time spotted.

eBay: Ultraed+ for Color Computer *NR* (item 220065923572 end time Jan-01-07 19:13:52 PST)

Hot stuff from sharkonwheels again! "Where does he get those wonderful toys!" This is an upgrade for the EDATSM+ pak that adds disk access, 80 column, CoCo 3 stuff and others. Boo-Yah! Includes the manual. Super rare!

eBay: Big Basic for Color Computer 3 *NR* (item 220065927039 end time Jan-01-07 19:17:59 PST)

Another super rare item from Danosoft. This BASIC upgrade let's you use it all... well, most of the memory available on a 128K and 512K machines. Comes with the manual and zip-lock back as well.

eBay: Backup Lightning for Color Computer *NR* (item 220065929126 end time Jan-01-07 19:21:26 PST)

Here's ColorVenture's Backup Lightning for the CoCo 3. Super rare, and fast, back up utility.

eBay: Super Disk/Tape transfer for Color Computer *NR* (item 220065930193 end time Jan-01-07 19:23:13 PST)

Here's Microcom's Super Disk/Tape transfer for, well, transfering tapes to disk. Very useful for backing up those old tapes. Comes complete with zip-lock bag and manual. High collectible/high use value here!

eBay: SixDrive for Color Computer *NR* (item 220065931902 end time Jan-01-07 19:25:52 PST)

A cool utility that let's you configure your drives for up to 6 SSDD drives. So rare it's freaky. :)

eBay: Lot of 4 New TRS-80 Color Computer Games Programs (item 270074050237 end time Dec-31-06 11:14:16 PST)

Four mint paks. Do I need to go on and on about how rare the mint ones are getting? I didn't think so...

Now, if all that isn't enough to make your mouth water, pee you pants, and get your CoCo-ness revved into high gear, well, it gonna happen. So get in there! :)

12/27/06 Sales of Note

Sales of note as of December 27th, 2006:

In general, CoCo 2s continue to sell well when in mostly complete condition and with a couple of extras. Required to sell are the manuals. Memory size doesn't seem to be a concern, nor does Color BASIC or Extended Color BASIC. This probably indicates that folks are buying them to play paks. Game paks, though somewhat scarce lately, when priced right, seem to sell just about every time.

eBay: Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer 2 In Original Box (16K) (item 280062737706 end time Dec-27-06 12:33:43 PST)

A nice early model CoCo 2 (26-3026 if I had to guess), rare because it's 16K and Color BASIC only. No manuals, or other extras and still sold for $32.31. Those CB machines only don't come up very often. But if you want a CoCo that will a) challenge you, or b) play some of those groovy retro-paks, it certainly does the job. Sellers don't list the catalog numbers often enough to be sure, but from a collectors standpoint, these may be getting exceedingly rare. Price guide adjust up a bit.

eBay: Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer 2 In Original Box (64K) (item 280062735919 end time Dec-27-06 12:26:59 PST)

Another CoCo 2, this one at 62K with Extended Color BASIC. This one appears to be complete. Both of these units were purchased by the same buyer. No cat. no. listed, but it sold for US$26.00, which is roughly in line with previous sales in this condition (except a Fine 26-3127B).

eBay: RAINBOW CO CO MONTHLY "1985 " - " PROGRAMS ON TAPE " (item 300061562134 end time Dec-24-06 00:32:49 PST)

Nice lot of the full run of The Rainbow on Tape from 1985. Surprisingly went for a mere $12.99. There were other auction running at the time that may have pulled bids away from this lot, though. Regardless, the Price Guide has been adjusted accordingly. I also added listings through July of 1997. Haven't spotted the tape edition beyond that point and don't no exactly when Falsoft stop doing the tapes.

Price Guide notes:

Adjusted the MC-10 16K Expansion Module down
a bit after a large lot sold and several mint singles and doubles
didn't sell at all. The MC-10 goes through cycles and it, and it's
accessories, may be a bit too common at the moment for collectors.

Made an adjustment to the Orchestra 90-CC pak in Fine condition after several sold for way below what was listed in the Price Guide. This pak also appeared in two different packages, one with red graphics and one with blue graphics. Not noted in the Price Guide at the moment as such, but will if appears to become a factor.

eBay: Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer 2 + Books - Nice! NR! (item 120065525870 end time Dec-22-06 10:35:48 PST)

Another pretty much complete CoCo 2, and ECB machine judging from the manuals included. No indication what memory configuration. Earlier model, probably 26-3026 or 26-3027, with the low-profile keyboard. Sold for US$28.50.

eBay: TSR-80 Computer Color Basic Extend Book Cassette Manual (item 120065302441 end time Dec-21-06 20:00:27 PST)

And another one, with fine looking manuals, and again no certain identification. Did have the ECB manual, so we'll assume that. Assuming these are 64K machines, they would be right in line with Price Guide pricing. If they're 16K machines, then an adjustment would be needed. The price for Fine 16K machines were adjusted upward slightly to reflect this, but not much without a "for certain" identification.

eBay: King's Quest III by Sierra To Heir is Human (item 260065566579 end time Dec-21-06 19:58:17 PST)

KK3 for the 512K CC3 in Very Good condition. Slight adjustment up in that price, but only because it's not seen too often. Sold for $5.00 which is about normal.

eBay: Color Computer Artist (item 260065551612 end time Dec-21-06 19:18:28 PST)

Disk version of Color Computer Artist for the CoCo 3. This one was written by Steve Bjork and is actually a nifty drawing program for the CoCo 3. It's not great, but it certainly does the job. (Although it won't make you give up CoCo Max or Color Max 3... heh!) Sold for US$5.00. Fairly rare, but not wanted at the moment.

eBay: Color computer (coco 3) vintage game (item 260065542287 end time Dec-21-06 18:44:03 PST)

Another one that was way more fun than I thought it would be. Graphics won't set the world on fire, but it plays nice. Sold for US$5.00, which is higher than the Fine price for this one previously.

eBay: Tandy Radio Shack Coco Color Computer Roller Ball (item 320062831791 end time Dec-20-06 20:22:32 PST)

Pretty surprised I was able to score this guy for a mere US$10.00. Never seen one on sale before. Seller also threw in a couple of games on disk, but I haven't received the package as of this writing, so won't list them in the Price Guide until I do. The Wico Roller Ball was added.

eBay: Chromasette Tape Coco Tandy Color Computer (item 320062826692 end time Dec-20-06 19:51:21 PST)

Here's another one where I think buyers were "Engaged Elsewhere" when this one came up. I know my bid was certainly curtailed due to other commitments. This is a nice big lot of Chromosette cassettes, most with the original shipping envelopes and everything! The winner got a steal and a great collectible. I wouldn't trust the price listed at this point. :)

eBay: Rainbow Tape Coco Color Computer Falsoft (item 320062824661 end time Dec-20-06 19:39:34 PST)

Another steal! 51 copies of The Rainbow on Tape, many also with their original mailers. Heck of deal. The lot sold for US$23.00. Wow.

eBay: RAINBOW COLOR COMPUTER MONTHLY " PROGRAMS ON TAPE " (item 300060323706 end time Dec-19-06 19:25:30 PST)

And another lot, from 1984, that went for $12.99.

eBay: 2 TRS-80 MINI DISK PLAYERS,1 REMEX COLOR CONTROLOR W/CA (item 130059265993 end time Dec-18-06 14:45:55 PST)

A selection of drives for the CoCo with 26-3022 controller. Included something called the REMAX Mini Disk Player. Standard 5 1/4"? An odd drive? Don't know. The lot sold for $87.00, though!

eBay: CoCoMax for Color Computer *NR* (item 220060029694 end time Dec-17-06 18:55:12 PST)

The original CoCo Max with original binder and manuals. I scored this one for $19.29 with moderate bidding. Only the second time I've recorded this one for sale. Last year this one with just the disk went for $11.00, so I figured it would go higher.

eBay: Revelation! by R. Offermann for Color Computer *NR* (item 220060024410 end time Dec-17-06 18:41:53 PST)

I'll have more details on this one when it arrives, but this rarity went for $67.66. Can't wait to try it. It's an OS upgrade of some sort, but I'll post the info to the message board when I get it.

eBay: Graphicom Disk Utility for Color Computer *NR* (item 220060020682 end time Dec-17-06 18:31:55 PST)

Here's the rare Graphicom Disk Utility package, with it's original zip lock package and manual. Again, I managed to win this one, and will give a full report in the message board when it arrives. Sold for $32.50.

eBay: Tandy TRS-80 color computer w/cassette recorder joystix (item 190061601363 end time Dec-17-06 15:41:34 PST)

A nice early model CoCo 1 with cassette and a few other goodies. No ID information, unfortunately. But it sold for an outstanding US$63.22!

eBay: tandy floppy disk controller with interfase vintage (item 170060795375 end time Dec-12-06 19:26:09 PST)

An FD-500 at the bargain basement price of US $8.99. If it runs, it's a heck of a good deal!

The CoCo 3 sales of late are running right in line with Price Guide pricing, so no adjustments there. Over all, a general lowering in prices, but definitely more sales, particularly of "standard" CoCo items. Let's hope this means more CoCoist out there, enjoying our awesome machine, and joining in the fun!

12/27/06 Auctions of Note

Auctions of note for December 27th, 2006:

Have to go all the way back to the 19th to get caught. The holidays sure eat up the time. :) Some of these are ending pretty soon.

eBay: MEGABUG TRS-80 Color Computer Game MEGA BUG cartrige (item 200062519489 end time Jan-02-07 19:16:53 PST)

A pretty nice looking Megabug pak. Haven't seen this one in awhile, so might be worth a look if you need it. This was actually a really neat game. Kind of like Pac Man, but with a bigger board. A huge board actually. And the portion you're playing in is magnified and scrolls around with you as you wander through the maze. It's a neat effect and runs on a 4K CoCo!

eBay: TRS-80 Software plus 2 Joysticks (item 150074593820 end time Jan-02-07 11:39:18 PST)

Nice lot of Color Computer software up for grabs. Included are rarities like Pyramid 2000 (isn't that a LvlIII game?) and Madness and the Minotaur. I see Color Logo and the Card Games tapes as well, which are fun to play with. Great snag for the CoCo 1/2 owner who wants some fun stuff to do with it!

eBay: Radio Shack Tandy TRS 80 Disk Drive FD 501 (item 290065446160 end time Dec-31-06 02:18:36 PST)

Collectible vintage drives for the CoCo don't come up often, so give this one a look. Includes the drive, original box, packing, and controller pak. I don't see the manual, so it's not entirely complete, but appears to be a darn good specimen.

eBay: 5 Vintage Tandy Orchestra 90 CC Computer Music Coco NOS (item 200061869072 end time Dec-30-06 10:21:11 PST)

Here's a nice big pile of Orchestra 90-CC paks, new in box, if you need a big pile of Orchestra 90-CC paks, new in box. :)

Not a whole lot, but some nice bits to picks up. And way better than last year. eBayer seller's may be finally catching on to what brick-and-mortar retailers have known for several years. After Christmas sales, with people redeeming gift certificates (including eBay's) and looking for deals, are huge!

12/19/06 Auctions of Note

Auctions of Note for December 19th, 2006:

Around this time last year there was a huge slow down in auctions. Which is most likely explainable by Christmas coming, collectors not buying as much, and folks not listing as much. Unfortunately, it didn't pick back up for awhile. See the old archives here for details.

This year, things are slowing down a bit, but there's still a few juicy items up for grabs. :)

eBay: 4 Vintage TRS 8016K RAM Expansion Module Radio ShackNOS (item 200060787832 end time Dec-26-06 09:11:16 PST)

If you need four RAM expansions for your 10er, well, here ya go!

eBay: 3 Vintage Tandy Orchestra 90 CC Computer Music Coco NOS (item 200060589384 end time Dec-23-06 14:11:45 PST)

While buying in bulk, you might as well pick up 3 NOS Orchestra 90cc paks while you're at it!

eBay: Tandy Radio Shack Multipak Coco Color Computer 3 (item 320063269013 end time Dec-22-06 12:58:37 PST)

MPI Alert! This one has been upgraded to run properly on the CoCo 3. The old MPIs require a SAM chip upgrade to run properly under OS-9 on the CoCo 3. Depending on who you ask, you do or don't need to upgrade if you're just using DECB. I have no idea, either. :) I ran mine on 3124, not upgraded, for years with no problems, but the claim is that data loss and possible damage may occur without the upgrade. Others swear it only affects OS-9 systems. Why worry, either way. Buy this one.

eBay: RAINBOW CO CO MONTHLY "1985 " - " PROGRAMS ON TAPE " (item 300061562134 end time Dec-24-06 00:32:49 PST)

Relisted, 1985 copies of The Rainbow on Tape. Not sure why the relist.

eBay: Tandy Color Computer 3 - 5 GAMES - NM NR (item 170062858005 end time Dec-26-06 18:20:20 PST)

Heh. A bit pricey perhaps.

eBay: Vintage TRS-80 64K Color Computer 2 Works. (item 200060727729 end time Dec-24-06 03:53:48 PST)

Speaking of pricey.

eBay: Computerfacts Technical Data Radio Shack TRS-80 (item 230068106222 end time Dec-23-06 20:51:57 PST)

SAMS Compterfacts for the 26-3002 CoCo. Good series, and pretty darn rare. Seller has three copies, different auctions, for sale.

eBay: Computerfacts Technical Service TRS-80 Color Comp. 2 (item 230068105915 end time Dec-23-06 20:50:44 PST)

Same seller, this one for the CoCo 2, models 26-3134 and 26-3136. Looks like four copies for sale.

eBay: Dragon 32 - GETTING STARTED ON YOUR TRS 80/DRAGON Book (item 330064570557 end time Dec-23-06 13:48:49 PST)

Very rare Dragon book by Tim Hartnell and Robert Young.

eBay: Dragon 32 - DRAGON USER Magazine 1984/11 (item 330064571374 end time Dec-23-06 13:51:51 PST)

This seller has a lot of Dragon User magazines for sale. View the Seller's Store for the complete list of issues.

eBay: Dragon 32 - THE WORKING DRAGON 32 Book 1983 (item 330064570649 end time Dec-23-06 13:49:10 PST)

Listed as "A library of practical subroutines and programs." Several more Dragon books from the U.K. follow. I'll point out that much of the information in these will be of use to CoCo users around the world as well. ;) Quite a few other books, including Games, listed for the Dragon. Have a look!

eBay: Dragon 32 - Virgin CASTLE ADVENTURE 1983 (item 330064569931 end time Dec-23-06 13:46:58 PST)

Same seller also has several Dragon tapes up for auction. CoCo users be aware that many times, these won't work on the Color Computer without modification (assembler experience usually required). Included are some of the very early Microdeal cassettes. The range and originality of a lot of the U.K. software, from numerous publishers, is awesome. Cool stuff!

eBay: Boxed Dragon 32 with Boxed Dragon Joysticks (item 170061078731 end time Dec-20-06 14:29:29 PST)

Complete boxed Dragon 32 with original packing and box. Woo hoo! This will go high.

12/16/06 Auctions of Note

Apparently my last few updates didn't make it through, so here we go again. I'll investigate and figure out what happened, but I think it has to do with Performancing interfacing with the new Blogger beta. I'll keep an eye on it.

I also got an email pointing out that the posts I make are more enjoyable when I leave commentary and a bit of history about the items. Okay, I'm a bit pressed for time lately, and I want to post SOMETHING, but I will try to slip in a bit more about the items. For the next couple of weeks it'll be from memory, so take it for what it's worth. Corrections and additional information welcome!

Good stuff out there, though! Jump on in and join the fun!

Auctions of note through December 16th, 2006:

eBay: Tandy Radio Shack Color Computer Coco 64K (item 320062999231 end time Dec-21-06 13:05:01 PST)

Here's an nice upgraded CoCo, and the price is right. Interestingly, the seller says it has a CoCo 3 keyboard. And this one done on one of the earlier models. Note the black keyboard lip and left side case badge. If you need a good retro CoCo for playing with, this wouldn't be a bad choice. Do note that the CoCo 3 arrow keys are grouped on the right, unlike the original which had the left/right on the left side and the up/down on the right side. Takes a little getting used to, but frees up that other hand. :)

eBay: Tandy Radio Shack Coco Color Computer Roller Ball (item 320062831791 end time Dec-20-06 20:22:32 PST)

Really cool (and rare) Wico Roller Ball for the Coco. The seller is also throwing in two wicked roller-ball games: Crystak Castke and Missle Command. Most excellent.

eBay: Chromasette Tape Coco Tandy Color Computer (item 320062826692 end time Dec-20-06 19:51:21 PST)

Big fat lot of 22 Chromosette cassettes. Largest collection for sale I've ever seen. If you're looking to start collecting these, have a look. If you need 'em, definitely have a look! This was a tape-only magazine published back in the CoCo's early days. It was packed with great programs and some of the best of the early stuff came out of this publication.

eBay: Rainbow Tape Coco Color Computer Falsoft (item 320062824661 end time Dec-20-06 19:39:34 PST)

Big ass lot of The Rainbow on Tape. Can't tell too clearly in the picture, but it looks like some of the original mailers are included! (Inquire to be sure, before bidding, of course.) If so, these become even rarer.

eBay: Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer 2 + Books - Nice! NR! (item 120065525870 end time Dec-22-06 10:35:48 PST)

Normally I skip over CoCo 2s unless they're unusual or exceptional condition, and I almost passed this one by for comment. But a closer look reveals a pretty good find. This is a 26-3026 or 3027 most likely (the low profile keyboard) with ECB, judging from the manuals. The catalog I have, mileage may vary, says that the 3026 was the Color BASIC version and the 3027 was the Extended Color BASIC version, both originally at 16K. They could be upgraded to 64K, though the catalog doesn't mention it coming from the factory that way. Again, ask to be sure, but if so, this would make it the first model of CoCo 2 from 1983. Alas, I've never been able to establish a firm timeline from the 3026 to later models of the CoCo 2. That would be a good project someday... hmmm... Anyhow, the Price Guide lists this machine, in this condition, for under $20.00. For the collector that wants to be complete, this could be a heck of a good deal on a fairly rare machine in this condition.

eBay: King's Quest III by Sierra To Heir is Human (item 260065566579 end time Dec-21-06 19:58:17 PST)

A good, and apparently complete, copy of this Sierra game for the 512K CoCo 3. Loads of fun, too. Recommended game. :)

eBay: The Microscopic Mission by Activision (item 260065559720 end time Dec-21-06 19:40:04 PST)

From the same seller, a nice copy of Microscopic Mission. I keep saying I need to upwrap this and fire it (it's been many moons since I played it), but haven't quite gotten around to it. Sigh.

eBay: Color Computer Artist (item 260065551612 end time Dec-21-06 19:18:28 PST)

Copy of Color Computer Artist for the CoCo 3 in Good to Very Good condition. This was a neat editor by the one and only Steve Bjork. It was no CoCo Max, mind you, and the freaky menu interface is, well, a bit freaky. But it certainly does the job if you want to make some 16 color CoCo graphics. I was never able to get it to do extras colors (only four at a time), and the manual leaves a bit too much to the imagination, but worth playing with.

eBay: SUB BATTLE simulator by EPYX (item 260065549589 end time Dec-21-06 19:09:28 PST)

A copy of Sub Battle Simulator on disk for the 128K CoCo 3. Easily in my top 10 CoCo 3 games. Do I need to write more about this one. :)

eBay: Color computer (coco 3) vintage game (item 260065542287 end time Dec-21-06 18:44:03 PST)

This is One-on-One Slam Dunk with Julius Erving and Larry Bird. It's a CoCo 1/2 game (plays on a CoCo 3 on a composite monitor/TV) that is actually quite entertaining. We're not talking high end simulation here, but there's enough to make it challenging and it plays differently depending on how you set up the games. (Bjork wrote this one too, didn't he?) Worth a look!

eBay: Tandy Micro Color Computer software for the MC-10 (item 260065496593 end time Dec-21-06 16:59:45 PST)

Isn't this everything Tandy did for the MC-10? Heh. Nice collection, with most in the packaging and looking good. Nice collectible condition lot.

eBay: RAINBOW COLOR COMPUTER MONTHLY " PROGRAMS ON TAPE " (item 300060323706 end time Dec-19-06 19:25:30 PST)

Nice lot of The Rainbow on Tape from 1984. In hardshell cases, too, so some might actually still work!

eBay: 4 Radio Shack TRS-80 vintage game cartridges 80's (item 300059803565 end time Dec-18-06 15:53:15 PST)

Good to see some paks being listed again! These are in Good condition (Price Guide grade) and includes the rare Pinball pak with manuals. Wild and wacky pinball fun that, if I remember correctly, has a construction set option. I seem to remember you could also save your creations to tape. I remember this because I also recall sitting around with my friends trying to find on the tape where we saved that last board we made and cursing mightily. Still, good retro pinball fun.

eBay: VINTAGE Tandy 128K Color Computer 3 #26-3334 (item 160063260904 end time Dec-20-06 08:31:48 PST)

A mislisted CoCo 3 at a reasonable price. It'd make a good spare.

eBay: 7 COMPLETE RADIO SHACK TRS-80 CARTRIDGE GAMES + MORE (item 110068468166 end time Dec-20-06 16:58:25 PST)

Big lot of CoCo 1/2 paks with some rarities in it. Also includes some mystery tapes.

eBay: Big Lot of 27 Floppy Tapes for TRS-80 (item 170061089066 end time Dec-20-06 15:11:11 PST)

This one from the U.K. is interesting. It's a lot of "floppy-tapes" for the CoCo. These tapes work in a tape drive device sold by Acculab circa 1981. It appears to have been sold in the U.K., though it is entirely possible it was marked in the U.S. I vaguely remember a device like this being marketed for the CoCo. The manual available for the hardware, available at trs-80.com (Ira doesn't allow direct links), says the thing was for the a Level II system. Which would mean these tapes aren't for a CoCo. The seller, however, says they are and since it's entirely possible an interface was marketed at some point for the CoCo, it's possible. As always, inquire before bidding. Anyhow, it's an interesting device to read about. Runs an endless loop tape through that allows for more "disk" like random access-type addressing and large storage capacities. For 1981, that is. :) Unfortunately, no drive, just the tapes in this auction.

Hope you're all having a very happy holidays!

Angel's Luck,

Capt.

You may have noticed... :)

In case you hadn't noticed, there's been a bit of a change in the CoCo Collector. :)

Google finally took a break from trying to wrestle control of the known world from Microsoft and upgraded Blogger. Blogger, of course, is the service on which the CoCo Collector and Capt's CoCo Hut blog run.

The upgrade includes a bunch of sorely needed, and long overdue, features on both the front and administrative ends. For readers, there's several new features that will be incorporated into the Collector.

First, on the sidebar (to the right) you'll see several categories of items. The neatest feature here is the use of "Tags" to separate out the posts into categories. It's labeled "Directory" here. You can now click on a directory listing and get just the topics you want. No more having to tag the subject lines. :)

If you scroll down a bit, you'll see "Capt's CoCo Hut." For awhile now, I've been considering combining everything into one big blog. I like this better, though. That's a direct feed (Atom) from the CoCo Hut, with each post listed by date. I'll do something similar on the blog with the feed from the Collector. This nifty feature means that, if you're so inclined, you can hit one blog, get both, and save yourself a click over there. It'll be particularly useful for those that hit one or the other blog, and only hit the other occasionally.

Hey, if you've got a CoCo related feed you'd like to see added, let me know. :)

On the back side of things, there's been a heap of improvements. Changing the blog's template and scheme are drag and drop now. No more hunting those ccs tags and such. "Modules" can be added and linked at will, making it super handy to add and change things to the blogs format. Thus the customized look.

Post moderation is easier. So is adding stuff like link lists (see the expanded Linkage section). The admin can even change these things right from the main blog view, so if I find a cool CoCo link to add, I can just pop it right in there. Very slick.

If you've got a link you'd like to see added, drop it this way and I'll stick it both blogs.

All of this stuff also makes it easier to add contributors to the blog, as well. (Inquiries from interested CoCoists to captcpu@clubltdstudios.com)

Everything is linked to all of Google's services, so additional features should be coming soon after this beta is done. For example, it'd be cool to be able to embed a spreadsheet or document directly into the blog and make it editable by several different people (actually, you can already sorta do that).

Enjoy and let me know what ya think of the new look, what you'd like to see more of, and what else CoCoish you'd be interested in having!

Angel's Luck,

Capt.

12/10/06 Auctions of Note

Auctions of note for December 10th, 2006:

eBay: Radio Shack TRS 80 Color Computer Game Sesame Street! (item 320060854589 end time Dec-17-06 19:07:00 PST)

Complete and in the package Big Bird's Special Delivery cassette for the CoCo. Edutainment titles tend to be more common in near mint condition, but they won't be there forever.

eBay: CoCoMax for Color Computer *NR* (item 220060029694 end time Dec-17-06 18:55:12 PST)

Sharkonwheels returns with some great items to put under your tree! :) Up first we have a complete, original edition of CoCo Max from Colorware. Talk about the good stuff. :)

eBay: Revelation! by R. Offermann for Color Computer *NR* (item 220060024410 end time Dec-17-06 18:41:53 PST)

I know several collectors have been waiting for this one, so jump in there and get swinging. heh! This is an "OS" upgrade for the CoCo. Shark was kind enough to send out a scan of the manual some time ago, and honestly I still couldn't tell you exactly what it does. :) But they don't get much rarer than this!

eBay: Graphicom Disk Utility for Color Computer *NR* (item 220060020682 end time Dec-17-06 18:31:55 PST)

A real rarity. Not only is this graphics edit super rare, it's in complete condition, right down to the original zip lock baggie. This one could get messy. :)

eBay: Rainbow Magazine (item 260063971786 end time Dec-17-06 17:48:53 PST)

Here's an interesting idea. This seller has most of the Rainbows for sale and is offering them up for US$1.00 a piece. Might be a good way to fill in that collection a bit!

eBay: Tandy TRS-80 color computer w/cassette recorder joystix (item 190061601363 end time Dec-17-06 15:41:34 PST)

Judging from the pictures only, of course, this is a damn fine looking CoCo. Most of this vintage are pretty worn. Inquire for more details, but if you need a displayable early model CoCo (with the black keyboard lip), this might be worth a look.

eBay: Vintage 1984 Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer 2 (item 130058003173 end time Dec-15-06 13:23:17 PST)

Pretty nice (Good to Very Good perhaps) Color BASIC CoCo 2 in the box. I'm guess CB only because of the included manual (ie, no ECB manual). Inquire to be sure, of course. These CB only machines, while not necessarily collectible right now, are getting rarer.

eBay: TRS-80 Color Computer 2 16K/Extended Basic/Extras COCO (item 110066707102 end time Dec-16-06 16:48:54 PST)

Wanted to include this one, not because it's necessarily collectible (looks like it would need some restoration), but because it's a good "playing with" CoCo at 16K. Even includes a disk controller (just add drives). This and a couple of 5 1/4" would make a fun machine to mess with, just to see what you could get it to do with the forced limitations. :)

eBay: TRS-80 Micro Color Computer MC-10 (item 330060719051 end time Dec-16-06 11:44:39 PST)

Not a bad looking 10er. Not mint, but quite possible near.

eBay: TRS-80 COLOR COMPUTER- RADIO SHACK-3 PROGRAM GAME PAKS (item 300058773163 end time Dec-15-06 19:52:42 PST)

A super looking collection of in the box paks, including Polaris, Project Nebula and Handyman. Usually don't see opened paks looking this good (these would have originally been shrink wrapped).

eBay: HOT CoCo The magazine for TRS80 color Computer (item 260064019450 end time Dec-17-06 20:09:56 PST)

Several issues of the super rare Hot CoCo magazine. The "other" magazines (not The Rainbow) are getting fewer and far between lately. Hmmm...

A quick price guide note: Got an email about when I was going to update the silly thing. :) Well, honestly there hasn't been much need. I'm logging the data, of course, but things are pretty much where they should be. I probably do need to compile what I've got and revise and add a few entries. My plan is to do that sometime in mid-January. Tune in and stay tuned!

Comment: Welcome brizaos9

It is the distinct pleasure of the management to welcome brizaos9 to the CoCo Collector! Briza will be offering commentary on CoCo stuff collectibles in general, but of particular interest should be his game commentary. :) See, Briza's been collecting and archiving just about every game ever made for the CoCo. Maybe not all yet, but there are very few folks out there with more CoCo game knowledge. It's a pleasure to have you aboard, amigo!

Be sure to check out Briza's OS-9 forums at

http://os9user.forumsland.com/

Jump on in!

Angel's Luck,
Capt.

12/07/06 Auctions of Note

Auctions of note for December 7th, 2006:

eBay: TRS-80 Color Computer with Multi-Pack Interface (item 110065888308 end time Dec-14-06 12:45:37 PST)

Early model CoCo (picture is too fuzzy to make out the number but the serial number is really low) with the rare gray MPI. The MPI alone is worth the price. :)

eBay: TRS-80 COLOR COMPUTER - RADIO SHACK COLORMATH (item 300057987249 end time Dec-13-06 23:31:14 PST)

A still in package copy of Color Math cassette. This has never done well before, but hey, if you're into math... might be right up your allay.

eBay: TRS-80 COLOR COMPUTER: FOUR GAME PROGRAM PAKS (item 110065102098 end time Dec-12-06 20:28:32 PST)

Haven't seen a lot of paks lately. These are in Good condition (Price Guide grade) and with the manuals.

eBay: Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer Disk Controller for Coco (item 150068042134 end time Dec-13-06 01:40:27 PST)

Mislisted CoCo Disk controller. This is a homebrew kit. Seller doesn't say how manufactuered the kit, but it's a pretty neat item. Why can't we do this any more? hmmm... anyhow, unqiue controller. :)

eBay: Big Lot of Games for TRS-80 (item 170058488498 end time Dec-13-06 15:20:31 PST)

Here's an intriguing little lot from the U.K. Several paks and some unidentified cassettes and disks. Could there be something tasty in there? Hmm.... :)

That's it for today!

Angel's Luck,

Capt.

12/5/06 Auctions of Note

Auctions of note for December 5th, 2006:

eBay: TRS-80 COLOR COMPUTER FULL TURN OF THE SCREW (item 300056745277 end time Dec-11-06 00:15:46 PST)

Here's a very nice copy of this astonishingly rare book. It collects all of Tony DiStefano's "Turn of the Screw" columns from The Rainbow, 1983 through 1989. Good stuff. This sold before, but for some reason I didn't record it in the Price Guide. If I remember correctly, though, it went pretty high.

eBay Seller: sprybug: Vintage Computing Products, Atari ST CO70714 Mega Glue Microchip IC PLCC items on eBay.com

This seller has some CoCo related ICs available, included some of the BASIC ROMs.

eBay: TRS-80 COLOR MOUSE (item 200055829763 end time Dec-10-06 18:57:37 PST)

For the Aussie collector, here's a good looking Color Mouse, complete.

eBay: TRS-80 | Shamus - Radio Shack Color Computer (item 200055384467 end time Dec-11-06 18:37:31 PST)

Here's a mislisted copy of Shamus. Missing the original "folder" style packaging, but does include the manual. Pretty decent game as well. :)

---

Didn't see a whole lot out there over the last couple of days for the collector, but there's plenty if you're in the market for CoCo stuff in general. Probably a few stocking stuffers as well. :)

12/3/06 Auctions of Note

Happy Holidays! Tis the season to be CoCoing, so let's get right to the good stuff!

Auctions of Note for December 3rd, 2006:

TRS-80 TRS80 Tandy Color Computer Coco MultiPak 26-3024

Here's a 26-3024 MPI. Would probably need some work (and an upgrade to work with the CoCo 3), but have a look if you're in a fixin' mood. If you can get it working, might be good for a repak or mod.

TRS-80 TRS80 Tandy Color Computer Coco Disk System

An FD-501 with the manual and controller. Always handy to have.

TRS-80 TRS80 Tandy CM-8 CM8 Color Computer Monitor Coco

A CM-8 shown working. Not the best CoCo monitor, but it certainly does the job. A working one is fairly collectible as well. I've never seen one of these mint or Very Fine. This one looks to be in good condition, but is missing it's flip down door that covers the controls. Silly thing always breaks off anyway if you don't have the (exceedingly rare) stand. A stuck mine hanging of the edge of a big reference book to give it enough clearance.

Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer 2 in box EXTRAS GAMES

Potentially collectible CoCo 2 with the manuals, box and a few extra trimmings. The price is certainly right. Be sure to ask for memory, BASIC version and model number, if you're looking for a particular configuration. (By the way, that shipping is pretty close to what it actually costs to ship a CoCo 2 or 3. I won't list the price because it'll vary depending on where you're at, but that's about right for approximately 8 or 9 lbs in the U.S. Priority is a little more.)

Radio Shack Boxed TRS-80 Color Computer

Another one. Again, no model number or configuration info listed, so ask if needed. And again, the shipping about right for Parcel Post.

Tandy Color Computer 3 Complete W/ 5 Games COCO TRS-80

This appears to be a complete CoCo 3 with all the manuals, plus an extra set. Looks a bit yellowed from the picture but that may be correctable. Complete CoCo 3s like this are getting a bit rarer these days.

ACTIVISION SHANGHAI GAME-USE W/ TANDY COLOR COMP. 128K

Mislisted Shanghai at a good price. Great game on a suped up monitor, too!

Complete CoCo 1 from the U.K. Also includes Dinowars (annoying Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots clone that is surprisingly hard to stop playing. RAAAA! RAAARAAA!)

What I'm watching...

Thought I'd occasionally list what I'm watching on eBay with some comments as to why. Feel free to share yours as well. :)

I don't have a 10er yet. I remember getting one in... er... 83, I think. It was great because I considered it a portable CoCo. Rode all the way to Radio Shack (about 3 miles) on my bike, bought it with my paper route money, and rode all the way back with it balanced on the handle bars. Never did a whole lot with it, but it was fun to to "take the CoCo with me" when we went to visit relatives and such. Anyhow, I'm watching this one because it looks pretty complete and would make a nice addition to the collection. Problem is, I haven't gotten to a point where I can justify too much for one. So, when a complete one comes up, I watch it.

Just watching this one because it's obviously rare and odd. I like odd CoCo stuff. :)

I always need another CoCo 3. When one comes up with reasonable shipping and a low starting bid I always watch them. In the last two years I've only scored two this way, but both were under US$20.00. Even busted ones are terribly handy for parts. This one actually comes with the manuals and the original box, so I suspect it'll go a for a bit. But it doesn't hurt to watch it. :)

Angel's Luck,
Capt.
