Auctions of note for January 29th, 2007:



There's some pretty neat Color Computer stuff up for grabs right now. I'm just going to hit the highlights here. Some of this is ending soon, so jump in quick if you're itching to bid.



eBay: TANDY RADIO SHACK HOME PUBLISHER (item 300075830247 end time Feb-04-07 19:54:55 PST)



A pretty decent looking copy of Home Publisher from Tandy. This program lets you create newsletters and banners on your CoCo's printer. Not the best one, but certainly usable. This would make a nice collectible copy, or usable copy if you want to get into that retro DTP thang. I seem to remember it only support Tandy printers, though.



eBay: Near Mint TRS-80 Disk Drive Color Computer Interface (item 160079600330 end time Feb-04-07 11:43:48 PST)



Beautiful looking white 26-3029 floppy drive in the box. Alas, it does not appear to include the manual and paperwork. Still, for the collector this rarity would be fairly simply to complete and is nice enough condition. Unfortunately, I'm not certain which manual came with it: perfect bound or spiral bound? Anyone remember?



eBay: VINTAGE TANDY 128K COLOR COMPUTER 3 w/BOX-game books (item 300074837528 end time Jan-30-07 20:13:52 PST)



A complete looking CoCo 3 up for grabs. Actually, those Introducing You Color Computer 3 manual and Color Computer 3 Quick Reference Guide are kind of rare. Nice find and worth a look if you need a good looking CoCo 3 for the collection.



eBay: 2 TRS-80 Color Computer Basic Programming Books, Games (item 250077832766 end time Feb-01-07 18:00:00 PST)



Two nice copies of these books. I'm afraid I don't know much about them, but they appear to have been sold by Radio Shack, perhaps in Canada and the U.K. Note the Radio Shack logo at the bottom of the cover, and of course the spelling of "Colour." The Space Adventures one pops up occasionally, but I don't recall seeing the What Else You Can Do With Your TRS-80 book before.

Two useful OS-9 books. If your'e interested in learning OS-9, the Dale Puckett and Peter Dibble book comes highly recommended.



eBay: DIECOM Products Games for all Color Computers (item 260079781839 end time Jan-31-07 20:05:43 PST)



Oh man, lots like this don't come up very often! :) This lot includes Gantelet (sic), F-16 Assult, Gates of Delirium, Caladuril, and Landsford Mansion. All classics for the 64K CoCo 1/2. Lansford Mansion and Fates of Delirium include the manuals. All disks are original.



eBay: OS-9 WINDOW WRITER 1.3 for the Color Computer (item 260079781125 end time Jan-31-07 20:03:49 PST)



Here's a super rare copy, with manual, of Owl Ware's Window Writer 3. Runs under OS-9, Level 2 on a CoCo 3. I've never played with this word processor, but I seem to remember it got good reviews back in the day. Original disks and manuals should catch the eye of the collector.



eBay: OS-9 PASCAL for the color computer (item 260079781066 end time Jan-31-07 20:03:27 PST)



A copy of PASCAL that the Shack put out for Level 1. Lot includes an extra book on programming PASCAL. Great language, and I wonder if there's a more modern implementation for the CoCo available under NitrOS-9? Anyhoo, for the collector, a nice find.

Another rarity. This is a database system from OS-9 Level 1.



eBay: Tandy FD 502 (item 140078506047 end time Jan-31-07 13:41:42 PST)



Sweet looking FD-502 in the box. Appears unused with all the original packing. Alas, no manual. Still, if you need one as new as possible, this is one to look at.





Shipping is getting a bit high lately from many sellers. It dropped off there for awhile and was reasonable, but once again it seems to be climbing. Watch out for "Fixed" or "Flat" rate shipping. The seller is usually going to send it the cheapest (usually slowest) way possible and pocket the change. Also watch the services. For most CoCo stuff, in the U.S. anyhow, USPS (with confirmation and insurance) is fine. What out for UPS shipping where the auction doesn't mention the shipping. Always inquire about shipping. To sellers, it's always recommended to set the shipping as low as possible and always mention combined shipping if available. I know for certain that a lot of my own bidding, as well as several other collectors out there, hinges on the shipping. I even know what CoCo collector who won't bid on any auction where the shipping is obviously set way higher than the actual. I tend to figure it into the total I'm willing to pay, personally, but it definitely factors. There's been several auctions lately I haven't bid on at all, because the shipping was higher than what my maximum bid would be!



Just some thoughts. :)

I'm not seeing a whole lot CoCo that's making me jump up and down, as far as collecting goes, but there sure is a whole lot of CoCo stuff up for grabs! Here's a few that caught my eye and why.



eBay: Tandy Color Computer 2 16K Standard Basic with Box (item 120077242596 end time Jan-25-07 23:59:10 PST)



This one might be a bit high, but the seller did a good job of listing the neccessities. I'd want to see the box, does it have inserts, etc. The 3134B Standard BASIC is rare enough to warrant a look for collectors.



eBay: Walt Disney Radio Shack TRS 80 color computer software (item 280072312111 end time Jan-25-07 21:17:00 PST)



Still wrapped Disney tapes including Goofy Covers Government and Telling time with Donald. There are not seen very often.



eBay: Tandy Disk Drive FD 500 (item 260077807347 end time Jan-25-07 20:39:04 PST)



An FD-500 with controller and a few CoCo 2 manuals. Alas, no Disk BASIC manual. This one has the FD-500 labeled controller.

Here's a nice big lot including a CoCo 2 and CoCo 3, MPI, Speech Sound Pak, FD-501, manuals, some games and other stuff. Except for a monitor, looks like a pretty good starter system. Wouldn't be bad if you need some backup stuff either.

Beautiful CoCo 2 lot. Nothing terribly noteworthy, just a really nice looking bunch of CoCo Goodness, judging from the pictures. Collectors might want to peek.

Another very nice, complete in the box TI-99/4A, this one... wait a second. What the hell is going on here! Sheesh! :)



eBay: TANDY FD 500 DUAL FLOPPY DISC DRIVE TRS-80 COLOR ~ NR (item 300070395725 end time Jan-20-07 18:20:28 PST)



Dual FD-500 drive with controller. Untested unfortunately, but looks good cosmetically. If you need vintage drives for your collection or retro CoCo system, these would do the job.

Okay, I'm all for enthusiasm when it comes to buying and selling CoCos... and this IS a pretty nice specimen... but $500! Heh. (And I was wrong... there IS such a thing as too many pictures in an auction.)

Okay, I'm way behind, but I've got a good excuse. :) I've been busy with me CoCos for a change. heh! More on that over in the Hut blog this weekend, but for now let's get caught up. Some of these may be ending soon, so jump on in there quick.





eBay: 1983 Dragon 64 Computer by Tano – NEW IN BOX! (item 170069981447 end time Jan-18-07 20:20:24 PST)



Woo hoo! A pretty cherry Tano Dragon by the looks of it. These don't come up for bid much. Also appears to be complete. A company called California Digital sells these for the same price as the starting bid on the auction. I had emailed them a couple of years ago, but don't remember a response (maybe the spam eater got it). So whether the company is offering the complete system, just the machines, or something different I couldn't say. Inquire before buying, of course. Regardless, this one up for auction looks pretty sweet!



eBay: Color computer 2 and 3 memory chips (item 260075279967 end time Jan-18-07 20:07:48 PST)



Seller is offering a lot of 4464 chips for the CoCo 2 and 41464 chips for the CoCo 3. Doesn't hurt to have spares and these are getting hard to find.



eBay: 2 OS-9 Disney Games for Tandy Color Computers w/64K (item 140073878750 end time Jan-18-07 16:48:35 PST)



Couple of the Disney games. This lot appears complete and in pretty good shape. These games are actually pretty fun for the younger set and worth a look if you have little ones around. If you need them for your collection, these wouldn't be bad additions either.



eBay: TRS-80 Color Computer Mini Disk Drive w/cable (item 220070453322 end time Jan-17-07 21:26:11 PST)



Looks like a white 26-3029 mini disk unit with drive and cable. Can't quite make out the numbers on the controller. If it works, it would certainly do the job. In this condition it would make a nice addition as well.



eBay: VINTAGE TANDY 128K COLOR COMPUTER 3 WITH BOX TRS-80? (item 230076596428 end time Jan-17-07 18:00:00 PST)



The rarer of the CoCo 3s, the later American built version. Note the big ass Tandy logo on the left of the case badge and the red, white, and blue box. There were actually three CoCo 3s made. The first is differentiated by the 1986 GIME chip installed. I've never heard how to determine which GIME is in the CoCo 3. That chip was replaced in 87 with a newer GIME (don't ask me the technical specifics... something to do with using faster memory or something like that). Both of those models were built in Korea. The third version had the same 1987 GIME, but was produced in the U.S. This is that model. FWIW, they are functionally identical and all share the same cat. no., though some of the electronic components may differ slightly. You can tell the difference between the Korean built model and the U.S. built model by the case badge and the box it came in. Little logo in the white and orange (sometimes red) box is Korean, big logo in the red, white, and blue box with the kids on it is American. Anyhow, this is a pretty good looking CoCo. Alas, no manuals or other stuff in the box. Just the machine.

Pretty good looking Gray. Appears to be a Color BASIC machine and includes a few paks to play with.



eBay: 6309 CPU for TRS-80 Color Computer (Hitachi HD63C09EP) (item 120072992624 end time Jan-15-07 09:47:28 PST)



The rare 6309 upgrade for the CoCo. Makes the CoCo faster, cooler and has an enhanced instruction set. It is 100% compatible with the 6809 in native mode.

Here's a good example of the Korean built CoCo 3. Hey, it's tested working as well!

A still shrinkwraped copy MultiVue. Don't know much about this program, I'm afraid.

This seller has several issue of the super rare Color Computer Magazine and Hot CoCo Magazine. Each is listed individually. Great time to fill the holes in the ol' collection.

From Nelson Software. Looks pretty good and the manual has been put in a binder. I haven't ever had this program before, so won't comment on it's operation.

This isn't necessarily a CoCo item, and I don't normally list printers, but this is a fine looking LPII. More important, hook it up to your CoCo, print something, and watch it go off like a cannon. These things make a wicked racket when they fire up. Fun!

Super rare CoCo book. Everything you ever wanted to know about CB. The reprint "II" editions of these are available at coco3.com: Tandy Color Computer Unravelled Series II but now you can own the original. :)

Not quite as rare, but rare enough to be worth a look. Written by Don and Kurt Inman, it's a great way to get a handle on making those CoCo graphics super fast.

First full CoCo 3 system we've seen in awhile. Includes a great selection of extras and appears to top notch condition. Worth a peek if you need a CoCo 3, or want to get back into it. Also, potentially collectible items including a Blue Streak Ultima serial to parallel adapter, several still in the mailer Chromasette tapes, Colorcom/e com package, and several application paks still in their original packages.

A good looking CoCo 2 Service Manual for the 26-3026 and 3027. Those would be the original CoCo 2s, so worth a look if you need the specs for restoration or repair work.



eBay: Vintage EXATRON Stringy Floppy for TRS-80 COLLECTIBLE! (item 130064498339 end time Jan-07-07 13:10:21 PST)



A little while back some CoCo tapes(?) for this thing popped up and sold from the U.K. Well, here's the device itself. No docs and no indication that it would work with a CoCo controller (this one was apparently hooked up to model I), but it's an interesting collectible.

Hidee-Ho everybody. Contrary to what my long absence may have tried to indicate, I am still alive. Barely. Anyway, on to the Coco stuff...

Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer + Disk Drive

This is a very cool auction of a Coco 1 with what appears to be a custom floppy set up and and I think an HJL keyboard. I'm watching but I doubt I'll bid (wife would kill me)...

Vintage Plug 'n Power/X10 Home Control Unit for TRS-80

These bad boyz don't show up nearly enough. Had a few of these back in the 80's. They were fun toys, especially when the parents were watching TV and you wanted to be a PITA... :)

Tandy TRS 80 Computer in original box w/ extras

This auction looks to be decent for a starter collection... Only thing missing is a floppy drive.
