10/29/06 Sales of Note

Sale of note for October 29th, 2006:

Vintage~15~Tandy Color Computer Video Games~w/ Booklets

A pretty nice, Fine collection of paks for the CoCo 3 and 1/2. Just about all the main ones are here for the CoCo 3. Sold for US$37.89.

Tandy 128k Color Computer 3 Mint in Box Rare HTF

A Fine Color Computer 3 still in the wrapper. Also had the less often seen red, white, and blue box. Missing the ECB manual, though. Sold for $41.00, a bit lower than the Fine CoCo 3 usually sells.

Unused In Box Tandy TRS-80 CoCo 16K Color Computer

Obviously a collectible and for Price Guide purposes, Fine condition. I would note, however, that the picture looks like the machine is faded and/or scratched. Perhaps just the photo or a reflection. The manuals also looked a bit yellowed. Sold for US$144.49, the highest price yet for a Fine 16K Color Computer.

Tandy TRS-80 Color Compter 2 Never Used New Condition

A Fine (though I'd almost called it Very Good) Color Computer 2, cat no 26-3136 ECB CoCo selling for US$31.49. That's a bit low for the 16K version, a bit high for the 64K version, according to the Price Guide history. Slight price adjustment, but would really need to know the memory configuration to make a proper adjustment.

Radio Shack Color Computer Model 26-3004A w/box

I call this one Very Good at least. But only sold for US$9.99, so the Price Guide was adjusted slightly.

Coco Clipboard Magazine Nov/Dec88 thru Sept/Oct89*RARE*

Six issues of the exceedingly rare CoCo Clipboard magazine. This was a latter CoCo magazine/newsletter. Unfortunately, I have no history on this one. Great find, though! Lot sold for US$36.55 and the Price Guide listing is the average per issue (in other words, very tentative).

DISK DRIVE FD-500 FOR THE TANDY TRS-80 COLOR COMPUTER

Sold for US$26.00 which is considerably higher than the previous price of US$8.00. I adjusted the price guide up quite a bit (a little under midpoint for the two sales observed this year), reflecting the trend over the last year of drive controllers going for more and more. These aren't made any more and are getting rarer. And you have to have one to run floppies on a Color Computer.

MUSIC SYNTHESIZER FOR THE TANDY TRS-80 GAME COMPUTER

This sale of a Good Orchestra 90cc pak skews the price guide a bit. This was the older black version of the pak. The newer one has the CoCo 2/3 white case. This is the first time I recall seeing the black case version, so I added a new listing. Whether this is a new collectible or not remains to be seen. NOS copies of the white case version have been availabile for $15.00 or less for several months now. That this one, sans anything but the pak, would go for almost that price, and six bids to boot, gets it added to the "watch" list. Regardless, it is clearly the rarer version of this device.

Color Bonanza for TRS-80 Color Computer 50 Programs!!

This astonishing rarity was in about as Fine as you're likely to ever see. Beautiful cassettes, case and manual. Sold for US$56.00.

TRS-80 Froid! The Talking Psychologist

Really thought this would go for more, but a lot of the hard core collectors were heavily engaged in other high priced auctions. It requires the Spectrum Voice Pak, as well, so that may have been a factor. Sold for US$10.50.

The CoCo 3 continues to go up in price. After a poor showing this Summer, it's good to see the machine returning to market. Let's hope it's bringing in a lot of new/returning CoCoists! The CoCo 2 continues to sell strong. The CoCo 1 is selling better, and at higher prices, in highly collectible condition.

Angel's Luck,
Capt
