Quick update whilst scanning eBay

Buyer beware...

Vintage Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer 1 with box !!

Well, this is not something that I like to see, someone passing a gray off as a white. While he admits it was formerly a gray, this is the third time this item has shown up on an eBay auction. Each time with a reserve and a Buy It Now for $99.99. (Edit since this part was a little uncalledfor)

Later,

Have to admit, I looked at it first thinking it was a 26-3003B. heh. That just goes to show that you really have to look at the auctions, read carefully, and ask questions.

For the record, though, I know this guy. I also know what lengths he went to paint the sucker, so though I haven't seen it first hand (just the pictures) it's probably a pretty darn good paint job.

I think the interesting thing here is to see if it sells at all, as a test to see if the market will support mods and repaks.

I don't have the guts to try it myself. If I spent the time and money, I don't think I could list it at .01 just to see what would happen. heh :) Maybe someday ... :P

Angel's Luck,
Capt.

I don't think the market will support it. Even my repack, when finished, will not sell for half of what I'll have in it (not that I'm going to sell it..)

Here lately, I've noticed an Apple II empty case on eBay that offers some possibility... (evil grin time again)

Little clarification:

Personal taste here: I don't think case modded CoCos (mine included) are going to set the world on fire. I have no illusions about the worth of my repack: far less than the sum of all of the work + parts to make it. Fact of life. My repack is a labor of love for me, sick and twisted as it may sound. I do it because I want to, regardless of the cost (my wife disagrees). I doubt I'll sell it and I know I'll never get out of it what I've got in it...
